Collection consists of 30 Christmas cards and correspondence from Wallace and library staff. Christmas cards are often artistic pieces designed by Wallace and featuring herself as a caricature.

Sarah L. Wallace was a librarian at the Minneapolis Public Library from 1935 to 1962. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, she moved to Minneapolis with her family as a child. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the College of St. Catherine. She began her career at Minneapolis Public Library in 1936 as an assistant in the reference department. In 1942, she became the publicity assistant, and in 1945, she became the assistant administrator. In 1954, she moved into the public relations office as an officer and held the position until 1962. She accepted the position of Publications Officer at the Library of Congress in 1963. She held this position until her retirement in 1977. Wallace was also a part-time instructor at the College of St. Catherine in the following subjects: adolescent literature, library administration publicity, public relations, and community relations.
In Minneapolis, Wallace lived at 4949 Queen Ave S until 1946 when she moved to Edina. She moved to 5024 Halifax in 1953 and lived there until 1963. For many years she prepared original, artistic Christmas cards often including herself as a caricature. The cards were reproduced professionally. Sarah Wallace lived with her mother Mary and sister Dorothy at the Queen and Halifax addresses.

Materials donated by Margaret Wilhoit as accession 2005.02. Wilhoit and Sarah Wallace were friends when they were attending College of St. Catherine. Sarah was godmother of Margaret’s first son and sent him cards every birthday and Christmas.
