History
Library service to the Long Lake community in western Hennepin County began in 1913, when the library was housed out of the Long Lake Bank Building. For several decades, the library operated out of various locations in the community, until it settled in a commercial storefront space at 1865 Wayzata Blvd. W. in the Long Lake Town Center Mall in 1995. In 1983, Hennepin County Library considered consolidating the Long Lake, Medina, and Maple Plain libraries to create a large library to serve the smaller western communities of the county.

Portions of this collection (accession 2018.16) were previously managed by Hennepin County Library Officially Withdrawn, an organization for retired and former staff of Hennepin County Library and Minneapolis Public Library.

This collection contains materials transferred to the archives by Hennepin County Library administration in 2017 as accession 2018.38 and in 2018 as accession 2018.16.
