Description of Contents

Correspondence and documents chronicling J.S. Futcher's thirty-year career as a science teacher in the Minneapolis Public Schools from 1957 to 1985. Materials include notes and compiled memories written by Mr. Futcher, original or duplicate copies of school publications and correspondence, correspondence with past students, and student notebooks created in Mr. Futcher's classes. The collection was arranged by Mr. Futcher in rough chronological order. There is an index page in the front of each folder.

Biography

J.S. Futcher was a science teacher in the Minneapolis Public Schools for nearly 30 years. He taught at Jordan Junior High School, Northeast Junior High School, Jordan Fundamental School, and Roosevelt High School from 1957 until his retirement in 1985.

Raised in Minneapolis, Futcher graduated from North High School and the University of Minnesota. In fall 1954, he began his first teaching job in McGregor, Minnesota. Futcher taught in McGregor for two years before leaving to receive his Master's degree at Winona State College. In 1957, he began his career in the Minneapolis Public Schools as a science teacher at Jordan Junior High School.
