Records documenting the nomination and confirmation process for a Housing and Redevelopment Agency Commissioner. Includes semiannual and annual reports by Commissioner Bernat with his interpretation of actions by the Minneapolis Housing and Redevelopment Authority (MHRA). Includes information on the following topics/debates: site selection for a new domed stadium in Minneapolis in the Industry Square area and discussions of remodeling Memorial Stadium or Metropolitan Stadium, 1974-1976; minutes and writings from the United Neighbors (affiliated with the United Neighbors of America); the University District Improvement Association (UDIA); and a report by Cedar Riverside Associates on the progress of the Cedar Riverside redevelopment area, January 1975. The collection also contains materials to/from Emilia Bernat, especially in the UDIA and biographical folders.

Biography
Leo Bernat (1924-1988) was a Housing and Redevelopment Authority Commissioner for Minneapolis, 1974-1977. Leo and his wife Emilia both served as president of the University District Improvement Association and were neighborhood activists.
