History
Organized March 10, 1915, the Minneapolis chapter is the oldest Audubon Society in Minnesota. The purpose of the organization is "to promote the conservation and wise use of all natural resources, with particular emphasis on the study and protection of our native wildlife, and to cooperate with the National Audubon Society in its activities and with such other organizations as may have the same purpose." The organization sponsors field walks, civic projects, programs, and a library for members, and sells bird guides and other materials.
Originally called the Audubon Bird Club, in 1920 it became the Minneapolis Audubon Society. In 1975, it was renamed the Audubon Chapter of Minneapolis.
