Description of Contents
Original index cards recording permitted work performed on Minneapolis houses and buildings from 1882 to 1974. These cards record information about each house or building in the city, including original construction, additions, alterations and improvements, maintenance and repair work, out buildings, signs and walls. The cards are arranged alphabetically by street address.

History
Permit information was originally recorded by hand in large notebooks by City of Minneapolis inspections staff. That information was typed onto these cards by Works Progress Administration (WPA) workers in the 1930s and subsequently added to by City of Minneapolis staff.

Donor Information
This collection was donated by the City of Minneapolis Inspections Department in February 1992. It was formally accessioned as accession 2018.42 in December 2018.
Processing Information
This collection was digitized by Special Collections staff in 2015. Materials were removed from their original filing cabinets and boxed by Michael Homolka in 2019.
