Description of Contents
Photocopies of newspaper clippings and other press articles about the Minneapolis Public Library from 1874 to 2008. Topics include library programs, budgets and funding, library locations and hours, and other Minneapolis Public Library activities. The collection contains two series: Subject Files and Chronological Files. Subject Files contain clippings on a particular subject. Chronological contain clippings arranged by date. Some articles appear in both series. Subject files on individual library locations are included in the collections on each individual library (e.g. Washburn Library Records).

Biographical / Historical
Founded in 1885, Minneapolis Public Library served the residents of Minneapolis until its merger with Hennepin County Library in 2008. In 2008, the library encompassed a central library in downtown Minneapolis and 14 branches throughout the city. Over its long history, the Minneapolis Public Library had many additional branch locations, as well as bookmobile service, hospital service, business house libraries, school libraries, and partnerships with other local organizations.
