The Northwestern National Bank Building and the adjacent Donaldson Block (including the former Donaldson's Department store) burned on Thanksgiving Day 1982 in a large fire. The damaged buildings were demolished and later replaced by the Norwest Tower (later Wells Fargo Tower) and Gaviidae Center.
