Description of Contents

The collection contains documents, notes, photographs, and other materials compiled by Sharon Botts Garth in the research for her 2019 biography of Rev. Henry Botts, Sr. When Destiny Calls: Living Life with Purpose, as well as short oral history interviews conducted by Hennepin County Library Special Collections staff at book launch events in 2019. The bulk of the collection is photographs documenting the life of the Botts family and Zion Baptist Church in North Minneapolis.

Oral history interviews are digital audio recordings and exist solely in digital format. Full transcripts are available. Participants in the oral history interviews were asked three questions: What is your name? What is your connection to Rev. Botts? What memory would you like to share about Rev. Botts?
