The Nicollet Mall Collection consists of four boxes. Included in the collection are newspaper clippings, newsletters, fact sheets, reports & studies, project plans & proposals, and promotional material. Memoranda and meeting minutes from the Nicollet Mall Implementation Board are also included. Most of the collection centers around two main mall designs/re-designs, one in the late 1960s and the other the late 1980s.

Description of Contents This collection documents the career of Minneapolis city planner Lawrence Irvin. While the whole of the collection dates from 1957-1984, the bulk of the material reflects the later years of Irvin’s career, dating from the mid-1970s through 1981. Although much of the material was created by Irvin when he served as Planning Director Emeritus, the subject contents heavily reflect work done early in his career.
